Isn't it amazing what happens when you mix these genetics. Here are two seedlings, probably from the same pod, looking very dissimilar.
I am very pleased with the seedlings that I am getting from H. 'Robert W. Carr'.

I believe that is enough for today. This will get me about half caught up. Jean and I are looking forward to taking the Northern Mecca trip the first weekend in July. Maybe we will meet somewhere along the trail.
Life is very, very good.

Hi, I realy like what you are doing with the sculpted forms. I especially like the pinker 1109.
ReplyDeleteI also like the seedling from Awesome Bob. I do have Awesome Bob, but our winters are not cold enough and it is not thriving. This year we might experience an exceptionally cold and wet winter, so I have hopes to see it bloom in November.
Thanks for your blog, I enjoy each and every posting.
Christiaan, from a rainy and wet South Africa
Hi Christiaan,
ReplyDeleteWelcome from South Africa. It is so great to be able to communicate half way around the world almost instantly. Thanks for you comments on my blog. You may have a hard time with Awesome Bob if you do not have enough winter cold. I think I registered it as a SEv, but I believe it is a dormant. I have gotten some very nice kids from it.
We had a very wet spring and now the faucet has been turned off and we are parched. However, I believe we are enjoying blossoms affected by those early rains. Enjoy the rain while it is coming.
Hi Lee,
ReplyDeleteI really like Seedling No. 1107 but it might be too much like Wonder of it All. How does it compare?
Hi Edward,
ReplyDeleteThey do appear to be very similar. 1107 has a stronger color and does not seem to have the hangup problems of WOIA. They both tend to rescape before the 1st set is through blooming. I have seen WOIA do this 4 times in one season. Not sure about 1107 yet.
All your seedlings are simply stunning. It must so satisfying to be responsible for bringing such beauty to life.Do you sell to the general public or do you do your hybridizing for your personal pleasure?
ReplyDeleteMr. Lee, this post had me putting WOIA on everything last two days. Bunch on Groovy Guy, but just not enough blooms yet, new this year.
